Iran's animated short film ‘Empty View’ has been set to attend the 2019 edition of the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA) in Japan.
Written and directed by Ali Zare-Qanatnowi, 'Empty View' will take part in the War and the Power to Live program at this year's edition of the SSFF & ASIA.
'Empty View' tells the story of a mother anxiously awaiting for the return of her son from war.
The animation was designed and produced in more than two years. It combines the 2D and 3D animation techniques for the first time in Iranian cinema on such scale.
The film has attended many international festivals and garnered several awards.
In January, 'Empty View' participated at the 8th edition of the Bronx World Film Cycle, Winter 2019 in the US.
The Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia is accredited by the Academy Awards and is one of the largest international short film festivals in Asia, according to the website of the event.
The program aims “to introduce people with various backgrounds and share their lives and emotions to spread the importance of giving a hand to people around you, and realize how wonderful and grateful we are to live in peace,” the website of the festival reads.
The gala takes place in Tokyo, in June every year. It has been running since 1999.
